Kreinhop Elementary School's Kari Romero earns STARS in the Classroom award

Kari Romero of Kreinhop Elementary School has earned a STARS in the Classroom.

In an effort to help students better acclimate to school, Romero came up with an activity for her students to get to know one another by naming a king and queen for the day.

"I am honored that I was even nominated," Romero said. "Having my students love school and feel safe is something that is really important to me as a kindergarten teacher."

Romero received the honor Sept. 25 from James Casey of the Houston Texans at Kreinhop Elementary School in Spring.

The STARS in the Classroom award is sponsored by the Houston Texans and First Community Credit Union.
