LSC-Tomball Theatre offers ‘Noises Off’

The Lone Star College- Tomball Theatre Department will present the comedy production “Noises Off” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 25-27, in the Performing Arts Center on campus.

The farcical play tells the story of a manic cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called “Nothing’s On.” The play presents doors slamming, intrigue and an errant herring all figuring in the plot.

“This play will have the audience rolling with laughter the entire time,” said drama professor Sherri White in a press release. “The cast we have is excellent. It will be a great time for everyone.”

Tickets are $15 for the general public, $12 for seniors and Lone Star

Garage sale set at Greenwood Clubhouse

A garage sale will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at Greenwood Forest Clubhouse in Houston.

All proceeds will be returned to the neighborhood in the form of community beautification and improvement projects.

The clubhouse is at 12700 Champions Forest Drive.

Chamber aid Program taking donations

The Spring-Klein Chamber of Commerce will accept donations for its Neighbors Helping Neighbors program until Thursday, Dec. 13.

The program provides local children and families in need with Holiday food boxes.

A $50 donation will provide children, who may otherwise go without, enough food to make it through the holiday school break, according to a Chamber of Commerce news release. The Chamber’s goal is to reach at least 20-area families this holiday.

 St. Ignatius Catholic Church forms new club

St. Ignatius Catholic Church has announced the formation of its Friends and Neighbors of FM 1960 Women’s Club.

Events are open to everyone and held on the first Tuesday of every month through May 2013.

The group focuses on forming new friendships within the community. Activities will include bridge, crafts, book clubs, day trips and hiking. The Tuesday, Nov. 6 program will feature Lanier Theological Library Director Charles Mickey, who will share a presentation of the treasures of the library.

Nutcracker Market slated for Nov. 9 A trip to the Nutcracker

Market will be held Friday, Nov. 9 from the Tomball Community Center in Tomball.

Participants will leave the Tomball Community Center at 8:15 a.m. The return trip to the center will begin at 4 p.m. Tickets are $13. Only 20 tickets are available.

Nine locals finish Run for Recovery 5K

Nine athletes from Spring completed the Run for Recovery 5K Sept. 23 in Houston.

The finishing runners from Spring were Pamela Ferguson, 33, at 25:16; Amber Seely, 31, at 29:26; Mathew Garcia, 13, at 33:38; Leonardo Castro, 41, at 34:35; Harry Krolczyk, 43, at 34:27; Katherine Esmond, 52, at 40:54; Dorothy Wolff, 40, at 42:36; Larry Esmond, 62, at 44:25; and Phyllis McDaniel, 51, at 46:40.

A total of 203 participants finished the 5K race, which was held at Fish Plaza at the Wortham Theater Center.

Mahta Mesfun was the men’s winner with a time of 17:03, and Katherine Marshall was the winner in the women’s category with 18:45.

Salem Lutheran watches taping of TV program

Eight Salem Lutheran School students, along with several parents and teachers, attended a taping of “Great Day Houston” at the KHOU studios recently.

The purpose of their trip was to partner with Great Day Houston, which aired a short promo of the Run 4 Their Lives 5K and 1 mile runs on Saturday, Oct. 13. All proceeds went to Kids Caring for Kenya and used to buy bed nets for families in Kenya.
