The Village at Gleannloch Farms prepares for Parade of Trees

The Village at Gleannloch Farms is encouraging the public to participate in its third annual Parade of Trees fundraiser to benefit local charities.

According to a press release, businesses, organizations and individuals can buy and decorate Christmas trees, after which they will be entered into an auction.

"We want to make sure people in the community are aware that the buying and decorating process has started, and that we need as many people and companies as possible to donate trees," Kathy Johanns, executive director at The Village, said in the release. "This is the perfect opportunity to do something fun and festive all while supporting a local charity."

Companies and community members can sponsor a tree through Monday, Nov. 26, and bidding on decorated tree will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 7.

"It gives us a feeling of belonging to something besides ourselves," resident Marlene Suter said in the release. "Charities are always short on money. This is a way for us to help others in need and we feel good about it."

The auction and celebration will be held from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 7 at The Village, 9505 Northpointe Blvd., in Spring.

Last year, 35 trees were decorated and auctioned, raising $5,000 for the Krause Children's Center and TOMAGWA Health Care Ministries.

For more information about sponsoring a tree, call Jackie Zenon at 877-312-2140.
