Klein ISD Superintendent Jim Cain was recently honored with a lifetime achievement award.

The Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce recently honored Klein Independent School District Superintendent Jim Cain with a lifetime achievement award.

The award was given at the chamber's 2012 Starlight Awards event held Oct. 25, where two other Houston area superintendents were also honored.

According to a district press release, the award is given to individuals who demonstrate a commitment and legacy to improving the quality of life of people in the north Houston area.

"I was honored to receive this award, as it is a representation of the wonderful individuals that I have worked with during my 44 years in public education," said Cain in the release. "It also represents the thousands of students that I have hopefully impacted in a positive way as a teacher and administrator."

Cain has led the Klein ISD as superintendent since 2004. Previously, he served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, instruction officer, director of school administration and superintendent in the Fort Bend ISD. Cain returned to Klein ISD in 1999 when he became an assistant and then associate superintendent for school administration.

Cain earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and graduate and doctoral degrees from the University of Houston.

Cain and his wife, Susan, live in Klein, where their two children attend the Klein ISD schools.

The Klein Independent School District is located at 7200 Spring Cypress Road, Klein.
