Fourteen Spring runners complete Marine Corps Marathon
Fourteen athletes from Spring completed the Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 28 in Arlington, Va.
The runners from Spring and their finishing times were Roger Souders, 54, 3:41:24; Rochelle Ray, 41, 3:42:40; Andreas Grossmann, 45, 3:55:58; Jennifer Mathews, 28, 4:02:33; Geoff Lussier, 44, 4:17:08; Oscar Cortez, 48, 4:21:01; Brian Bruce, 43, 4:25:12; Omar Perez, 38, 4:33:06; Bryan Carroll, 35, 4:35:38; Michael Viguerie, 52, 4:35:42; Mark Oppenheim, 55, 4:36:56; Carlos Ortegon, 49, 4:55:09; Justin Gabuten, 21, 5:35:12; and Karl Middleton, 48, 5:43:08.
According to Marine Corps Marathon organizers, a total of 23,520 runners finished the 26.2-mile race.
Augustus Maiyo, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was the men's overall winner with a time of 2:20:20, while Hirut Guanqul, of Ellicott City, Md., was the winner in the women's category with a time of 2:42:03.
