Spring ISD earns PreK Centers of Excellence designation at 19 centers
The Texas Education Agency has designated 19 Spring Independent School District campuses as PreK Centers of Excellence.
The Kindergarten Readiness System, the state's prekindergarten certification and evaluation system, gave the designations to state preschools, Head Start and licensed child care programs that effectively prepared their students for kindergarten during the 2010-11 school year.
The designations were based and data collected from schools that participated in the 2010-11 Prekindergarten Early Start grant and Texas School Ready programs. Participating schools and programs were evaluated on their ability to improve student learning, regardless of the characteristics of their student body.
The 19 schools that received the PreK Centers of Excellence designations include, B.F. Clark Primary School, George E. Anderson, Joseph Beneke, Chet Burchett, Deloras E. Thompson, Ginger McNabb, Helen Major, Heritage, Joan Link, John Winship, Meyer, Mildred Jenkins, Milton Cooper, Northgate Crossing, Ralph Eickenroht, Pat Reynolds, Smith and Carolee Booker elementary schools, and the Spring ISD Even Start program at Northwest Assistance Ministries.
