Future vet excels in academics, FFA
She says she uses tools she gains in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program to challenge her to reach higher levels of academics, and she says she uses her Future Farmers of America (FFA) affiliation as a motivational tool to overcome her fears. The animal-loving teen currently cares for a pig after school, practicing for her future goal of becoming a veterinarian.

FAVORITE CLASS: “AVID because it helps me with other classes; I'm more myself, and the class helps me with my struggles.”
FAVORITE AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITY: “Go to the FFA barn and take care of my pig.”
FAVORITE BOOK: “ ‘The Three Black Swans’ (by Caroline B. Cooney) because it shows everyone can be their own way.”
FAVORITE TV SHOW: “ ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ because I have three little brothers, and we bond together and laugh watching it.”
FAVORITE MOVIE: “ ‘The Blind Side’ because no matter how bad (off) you are, a little help can take you a long way.”
AMBITION: “To be a veterinarian because I love being with animals and caring for them.”
