Spring Dekaney grad Shepherd plays in Louisiana loss
Spring Dekaney High School graduate Kasey Shepherd scored nine points as Louisiana at Lafayette lost 72-49 to conference rival Western Kentucky Thursday, Jan. 17, at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky., the team's website reported.
Shepherd also recorded five rebounds, one assist and a steal for the Ragin' Cajuns, who are 7-13 on the season and 3-6 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Louisiana at Lafayette's next game is 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Middle Tennessee.
Shepherd is a freshman guard for University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is a 2012 graduate of Dekaney High School in Houston. As a senior, he was the district defensive player of the year, helping the team to a 27-12 record. Shepherd is a three-time academic all-district honoree. The biology major from Houston is the son of Jeffrey and Paula Shepherd.
