Westfield grad Hopes plays in Tennessee State loss
Westfield High School graduate Simone Hopes scored six points, but Tennessee State University lost 66-54 to conference rival Belmont Saturday, Jan. 19, at Curb Event Center in Nashville, the Tennessee State website reported.
Hopes also recorded three rebounds, a steal andĀ oneĀ block for the Tigers, who are 6-10 on the season and 2-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Tennessee State's next game is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at home against Jacksonville State.
Hopes is a senior forward for Tennessee State University. She is a 2009 graduate of Westfield High School in Houston, where she was selected to the All-District 13-5A first team, and named to the Greater Houston Area All-Star team as a senior. Hopes is from Houston and is the daughter of Ron and Sandra Hopes.
